On March 21, 2014 – the International Day for the Elimination of Racism, Kootenay Employment Services will host a “Community Dialogue – Racism and Cross Cultural Awareness ” workshop thanks to a grant from Embrace BC. David Diamond, founder of Headlines Theatre in Vancouver, will take us through a Social Action Theatre type process that will have us look at how our individual culture interacts with other cultures and vice-versa. When we speak of culture, it is more than race. It can be the culture we grew up in, the culture we have adopted, a work culture, a geographical culture, a client culture, a business culture, a social culture, an education culture, youth culture, seniors culture, etc. One goal is that we will gather awareness as individuals so that we can excel as a community and in serving community.
This event will be held in the Creston Room at the Rec Centre. To register please go to http://www.kes.bc.ca/register/ or phone KES to register. This event is free for registrants – breakfast and lunch are provided. There is a limited number of spots so please register early.
Breakfast and sign in will start at 8:00 a.m., the workshop will start at 8:30 a.m. and go until 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch.
If for any reason, you have registered and cannot attend, please let us know so we can fill the vacant spot.
We hope to see you on March 21.
