Experience Works

Experience Works in Creston is a program to help older workers get back into the workforce or start their own businesses. Participants attend four weeks of classroom activities and receive an attendance allowance. After the classroom component participants move into either:

• a two-week job club followed by ten weeks of paid work experience with a local employer, or,
• a ten-week self employment program at KES.

You might be someone who has been out of the workforce for some time and think that you don’t have the skills to go back, or you might be a person who has decided that retirement is not as appealing as you had expected. Perhaps you’re burned out from a high stress job and need a change, or maybe you’ve never been in the workforce and want to give it a try. Whatever your situation, if you’re 50 or older, Experience Works in Creston might be just what you’re looking for. Past participants rave about the program – many calling it “life changing”.

Next intake: October 2010

“I’ve been given valuable tools by very professional teachers and the confidence to plunge into my own business. Their ongoing support is valuable and very much appreciated.”
