Transitional Wage Subsidy

If you have been on EI you may be eligible for a Transitional Wage Subsidy. TWS is a government-sponsored program that provides a financial incentive to employers to hire you and give you the work experience you need for ongoing, full-time employment. TWS shares the cost of your wages with employers for a period of time so that they can provide you the additional support you need to get fully proficient at your new job.

In order to participate in the program, employers must apply to Kootenay Employment Services prior to hiring. Interested workers should make an appointment with an employment counselor at KES to see if the program is right for them. If you are eligible, your counselor will refer you to the TWS program. By making employers aware of this opportunity, you can speed up the hiring process.

Intake is continuous.

“I was going to become a care aide but the TWS program provided an opportunity to join the staff at Pyramid Building Supplies. I have now been here for two years and I love it!”

-Delores Diletzoy

“The TWS program has allowed us to hire on people that have the potential to work in retail building supplies but lack the experience. With TWS support we are able to take the time we need to get them ‘up to speed’. KES made the process quick and easy and the results have been outstanding. We how have three on staff that have joined us in this way.”

-Mel Knutson, Manager, Pyramid Building Supplies Ltd.
