The Skills Development Employment Benefit (SDEB) is an ongoing initiative that provides training funds for people that are EI eligible. Even people not currently on EI but that have been at some time in the past may be eligible. KES counselors will work with you to determine your eligibility and develop an action plan for obtaining the training you need to get working. An external service provider makes the final funding decision – either to approve or deny.
Intake is continuous but it is important to have a KES counselor involved in your training decision. Applications usually take at least a month to prepare and process so it is important to start well before the training does.
“KES has had a monumental impact on my family. Not only were they willing to fullfill my educational goals, but recommended I go one step further. I was able to successfully complete my training and now have stable, meaningful employment in Creston.”
-David MacVicar
“KES helped me identify a suitable career when I was displaced from my job and gain SDEB funds to take the Health Care Assistant program. Now I am making almost double the wage I used to make. Thanks KES.”
