Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants
Do you currently work with or know of skilled newcomers with intermediate to advanced level English who became permanent residents within the last 5 years and are looking for work that match their pre-arrival experience? These are immigrants who are not on EI or BCEA benefit.
ISSofBC is currently accepting intakes for our Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants Program –Streams 1, 2 & 3, which provide resources and supports for eligible clients.
Stream 1 – Immigrant jobseekers who reside anywhere in BC who are skilled in Construction, Engineering and Information Technology and wanting to move into goal careers (pre-landing professions) that match their qualifications under the following National Occupation Codes
NOC 2171 Information Systems Analysts + Consultants
NOC 2174 Computer Programmers + Interactive Media Developers
NOC 0711 Constructions Managers
NOC 2131 Civil Engineers
NOC 2132 Mechanical Engineers
NOC 2133 Electrical + Electronics Engineers
Streams 2 & 3 – Immigrant jobseekers who reside in Vancouver, the Thompson Okanagan and Cariboo North regions and wanting to move into goal careers (pre-landing professions or alternative careers) in regulated and unregulated professions that match their qualifications
Stream 2: REGULATED occupations with educational certificate + experience
Stream 3: UNREGULATED professions or alternative careers that do not require a license
Stream 3 clients must be currently working over 20 hours per week.
We offer eligible immigrants:
. Action planning tailored to career goals . Evaluation + assessment of credentials
. Referral to occupation-specific language training . Funded skills training + upgrading
. 1:1 job search support for targeted occupation . Mentoring + networking + employer connections
. Work placement opportunities
