WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?
Thrive is a customized employment service for people whose negative experiences have caused lasting emotional and physical impacts that create barriers to getting or keeping employment. They might be survivors of mental, emotional, and/or physical violence and/or abuse, or they may have suffered from being bullied or harassed.
WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER IT?
Thrive is for people who have left situations of violence and/or abuse and are ready to find a job. Participants must be work ready. There are sometimes lasting emotional and physical impacts of experiencing abuse which create barriers to getting or keeping employment. These may include financial hardship, lack of confidence in re-entering the workforce, anxiety at work, inability to focus and concentrate at work, ineffective workplace communication, poor time management, and lack of knowledge of community resources such as counselling, legal advice, childcare, and financial services.
WHAT IS IT?
Four weeks, in-class support and training during which you are paid a living allowance. Classes run 5 days/week.
You have the opportunity to discover and work on those barriers preventing you from getting and keeping a job. Assess and develop computer skills, learn office software, make connections in the local labour market, consider upgrading or skills training, research and meet employers.
Followed by 12 weeks of coaching in a supported job club to help you find and maintain employment.
Program starts February 10th, 2020.
