Grist and Mash Brewery’s goal is to be a community gathering place for craft beer enthusiasts, with an inspired selection of rotating seasonal taps brewed onsite and distributed locally. We focus on quality ingredients, local food pairings, and exploring the limitless possibilities of new school brewing practices and hop varietals.

The Position:
The position will be the lead server and the person managing the tap room, providing professional front-end customer service, sharing enthusiasm and knowledge of craft beer. Working side-by-side serving patrons and managing the staff, including scheduling, coaching, recruitment and retention. Working with owners to develop and execute ideas to drive sales including menu development, marketing, promotions and events. Managing vendor relationships with local producers.

Requirements:
• Serving It Right certification; and knowledge of federal and provincial liquor laws
• BC Food Safe certification
• 2+ years experience with beverage and food service, preferably bar/restaurant
• 2+ years experience with staff management
• Computer program experience including MS Office (Excel and Word) and social media/ websites, etc.
• Ability to do math necessary for reconciliation, invoicing and customer/vendor management
• Proactive and capable of working independently
• Capable of leading a team with a highly collaborative management approach
• Committed to health and safety first, and the highest quality of cleaning and sanitizing standards, following all policies and legal requirements in the tap room
• Organized with a great eye for detail
• A good communicator, welcoming staff ideas for improvement
• Proactively lead implementation of plans and solutions
• Relaxed, flexible and able to handle a few curve balls

Duties • Work with the owners on labor planning, recruitment, hiring, performance management, and positive culture building around our core values
• Set the team schedule, regular communication and adjustments as needed
• Ensure proper opening and closing of the tap room daily
• Provide food & beverage preparation and service
• Direct marketing, sales, and merchandising to drive sales
• Planning and execution of events and promotions
• Develop and maintain local vendor relationships
• Manage continuous improvement of tap room processes and procedures
May assist with
o Packaging of product including bottling, labeling, boxing, storage
o Monitoring brewing and fermentation in the brewery
o Delivery or pick up of product or ingredients
