Happy Holidays 2025

A message from KES' Ben Sargent

It’s that time of year again — and it has come around quickly! This December feels especially significant for me, as December 2nd marked my one-year anniversary with KES. This time last year, I was just getting my feet wet. I remember the emotions well, a mix of excitement, purpose, and mild anxiety. I needn’t have worried though: from my very first days in this role, I felt welcomed: by colleagues, partners, and communities across the region.

During my first month with KES, I traveled from our Creston office to our other locations in Cranbrook, Fernie, and Invermere. I’ve been traveling ever since, learning about valued partnerships and forging new ones. Each community in the Kootenays has unique strengths and challenges, and their own special vibe. What they share though is a strong welcoming spirit, and their pride in showing off their beautiful corner of the world.

As I reflect on this holiday season compared to last year, my feet aren’t just wet, they’re soaked … soaked with gratitude. I’m grateful for the diverse communities who are partnering with us to create opportunities for meaningful employment in our region. I am proud of the way KES continues to welcome individuals as they seek and build purposeful careers.

I didn’t know exactly what I was walking into last year, but this year feels different. While 2026 may still hold some unknowns, one thing I’m confident about is that the KES team will remain committed to supporting your personal and professional development and your employment journey in every way we can.

As we now welcome a new year together, I wish you and yours peace, hope, and encouragement in full measure. I look forward to the next steps we will take together.

Ben
