The lack of childcare has reached crisis point in many Kootenay communities. With this stream you will acquire all the skills you need to set up your own childcare business.
Secondary Food Processing
The Kootenays are home to top-notch agricultural products. Launch your secondary food processing business and help share the taste of the Kootenays with the rest of Canada and the world.
Green Technology
Be part of the solution. Does your business idea tackle clean power, reduced waste or more planet-friendly products and services? This stream helps our Kootenay communities reach their climate action targets.
Rural Economic Diversification
Kootenay communities are all different and abound with potential! We are looking for innovative entrepreneurs to take the RED will give you the supports needed in a rural location.

So, what is RED?
The goal of the Rural Entrepreneurship Development program is to support the development of new business ventures in the Kootenays. The program includes business startup information, business coaching, and access to industry information and coaching. Participants can access financial supports to help get their business off the ground.

• Permanent resident of Canada
• Resides in a Kootenay Regional District
• Has skills and funds for business idea
• Can commit a minimum of 35 hours per week, for 48 weeks
• The business idea creates a new job
